Mission

we like words and pictures, so we decided to collect them. we splice and paste our discoveries into what we call a magazine. the magazine takes place in chicago because, by default, this is where we live. a possible raison d'etre could be described as narrative, thematic and meaningful. or maybe we are filling up your virtual reality with a whole bunch of bullshit. by any means, the works collected in this magazine hope to prick some nerve in the reader, whether it makes them laugh or just scratch themselves.

who reads 606 magazine?

we'd like to think that 606 magazine has no agenda, but we do. we'd like you to think that we do not subscribe to any school of thought, but we do. we say we will not use the publication as a dumping ground for our political opinions: yes we will. our fashion is informed by what we think is fashionable. our staff members humor themselves by thinking that they are making a difference. but our readers are slippery fish to catch. and thank goodness they're not the genetically engineered glow-in-the-dark kind.

our readers have toes, intestines, tongues, cheeks and maybe some eyes. those eyes are being constantly bombarded with information, solicitations, and flashy arrays of meaningless crap. at a velocity unimaginable 50 years ago. submersion in this environment has molded our readers into being more informed, more selective, and less predictable. reared under reaganomics, housed in divorce, and coming of age in a now quivering economy makes for complexity in targeting this readership.
