Lawrence of Arabia

When you have insomnia, do not – DO NOT – watch Insomnia . It's kind of a letdown.

I wouldn't recommend a movie that would put you to sleep – say, something in the Ken Burns school of film . The nature of insomnia being what it is, you'd probably stay awake through the boringness.

So, instead, you may as well settle in for a nice epic. And, honestly, has there even been an epic as good as Lawrence of Arabia ?

If you just thought, “Sure is. Maybe you've heard of it. A little film called Troy ?” you should be shot.

Lawrence of Arabia has it all: Sweeping desert landscapes, a gorgeous score, an excellent screenplay and a terrific cast. The film is slowly paced so, should you start to drift, you won't be brought back awake, but there are plenty of dirty battles and sadomasochistic scenes to keep you at least interested while you struggle through your long waking hours.
